Gearing up for Spring

Local insight to help you navigate the transition into spring in comfort and, of course, style.
Winter 2025
Winter has certainly been in fine form these past few weeks, delivering 121 inches of fresh snow to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (that's over 10 feet)! The current season total is at 338 inches and counting. JHMR plans to shutter the season’s operations on April 13, leaving fewer than 50 days to make your turns on the hill.
That’s not the only clue that a seasonal transition is on the horizon. The days are blissfully longer, sunny afternoons noticeably warmer… even the wildlife begins to change patterns as the coldest part of the year wanes.
We’ve rounded up some local insight to help you navigate the transition into spring in comfort and, of course, style.
Staying Warm & Dry
Springtime in the mountains can mean dealing with wintry chill in the morning and toasty sunshine in the afternoon. A key to staying comfortable despite dramatic temperature changes? Layering.
We’re big fans of polypropylene or wool base layers all winter long, but especially in spring. Not only do they provide perfect next-to-skin warmth when it’s nippy, they easily wick moisture as you sweat, or if the snow is getting a bit melty. There are plenty of local spots to pick up a set; JD High Country Outfitters, Teton Village Sports, Teton Mountaineering, Skinny Skis, and more.
Strategizing to keep yourself dry is also a big help this time of year. It’s the perfect time to re-seal water-resistant gear with a spray or rub-on formula. If some new gloves are on your list? You’ll notice that plenty of locals are fans of Give’r Gloves, which come with a robust waterproofing from the jump.
Like everywhere else on your body, keeping your feet warm and dry will make any outdoor adventure far more pleasant. Look for boots that are both insulated as well as waterproof — but no need to settle for boring footwear. There are plenty of boots out there that will complement your wardrobe while still delivering the versatility that the Wyoming winter and spring demand.
Recover & Rejuvenate for Warm Weather Activities
Being mindful about your physical preparation for spring and summer activities can help minimize your risk for injury, and it’s an easy way to make sure that you’re feeling your best year-round.
Check in with a local wellness practitioner to develop a specialized approach to help you reach your goals — it’s the perfect way to get some guidance and support. We’re big fans of Medicine Wheel Wellness; from group movement classes and bespoke training plans to massage and physical therapy, their holistic approach means that your body gets exactly what it needs.
We also love visiting Healthy Being Cafe & Juicery for a delicious and nourishing meal or cold-pressed juice. It’s a tasty and healthy way to ensure that you’re setting yourself up for success. If you’re anything like us, we’ll be savoring the final weeks of winter, but also looking forward to some warmer weather! It’s a beautiful and unique time in the mountains, reminding us that this magical place is never exactly the same from one day to the next.
