When it comes to home design and remodeling in Jackson Hole, Grand Design has become a one-stop destination for everything from flooring to full renovations.
Originally focused on flooring since the early 1990s, Grand Design expanded after Tony Lomax took over in 2019, transforming the business into a full-service interior design destination. Today, it offers everything from flooring to doors, windows, decking, cabinets and bathroom remodels — essentially, anything a homeowner could need to update or refresh their space.
Customers don’t just find the materials they need; Tony and his team manage the entire project. “I handle all the contractors, I source the material and find the best price — I handle everything,” Tony said.

With more than three decades in the construction and flooring business, Tony has built strong relationships with contractors in major cities like Denver and Salt Lake City. To ensure the highest quality service for his clients, he brought some of the best professionals he’s worked with over the years to join him in Jackson.
For homeowners looking to update their space, Tony shares a few tips he’s learned over the years to bring a vision to life.
Choose a hard flooring over carpet.
While hard flooring is generally around 30% more expensive than carpet, it’s worth the extra cost. Due to wet winters and muddy spring seasons, a hard floor will always last a lot longer.
“We live in a muddy, dirty area,” Tony said. “I always recommend people go for the hard surface because of the area we live in. Carpet is going to wear out.”
The most cost-effective, durable option for hard flooring is laminate and plank vinyl. While Pergo flooring was popular when it first came out, Tony said it is not a quality product, and he now turns to more durable laminate products instead.
“I did a ton of research on it, and I actually did my entire showroom with it just to see what it would do. And now I have it in my house,” he said.

Stick with neutral colors, not trends.
When doing a redesign, Tony suggests sticking with neutral colors such as warm browns and blonde. He’s watched numerous color trends go in and out of style, and advises that sticking with neutral browns will be a better choice for the long-term.
A few simple swaps can give homes a whole new feel.
Whether homeowners want to refresh their space for the season or simply change up the look, a few small updates can make a big impact without major redesign work. Swapping out curtains, couch pillows or rugs can transform a room, and Grand Design offers customizable rugs and runners to suit any home.
Painting is another easy way to give the house a whole new feel, Tony said. “It seems like a lot of work but it’s pretty cost effective and does a ton for your house. Changing from a bright to a more warmer tone in the winter will actually give you a totally different feel of the house.”
