In Jackson Hole, we’re the kind of people who take on a challenge with enthusiasm.
From those who first summited unclimbed peaks and carved out homesteads in unforgiving conditions, to the people who continue to build, create, and solve problems in thoughtful, innovative ways today—this has always been a place shaped by resilience, curiosity, and a deep connection to the land.
Life in the West has never been without its challenges. Whether that challenge takes the shape of a changing landscape, pressures on public lands, or the everyday work of building something meaningful, the response has never been passive.
Again and again, this community proves what’s possible when people lean in with purpose. In these pages, you’ll meet individuals who are creating extraordinary things—not for recognition, but because they believe in their work. You’ll find stories of stewardship, of creativity, of people who are deeply invested in the places they call home and the people around them.
This issue’s theme, Unapologetic, isn’t about bravado. It’s about clarity and determination.
It’s about living with integrity, with grit, and without compromise in the things that matter most. It’s about making decisions rooted in values, even when the path forward isn’t easy or obvious. And it’s about understanding that caring—for our communities, our landscapes, and each other—is an active choice.
Whether you’ve called this place home for decades or you’re just getting to know it, it becomes part of you. And through that connection, we’re all better for it.
Warmly,
Melissa Thomasma
